The Federation of Ontario Law Associations (FOLA) congratulates Peter C. Wardle on his election as Treasurer of the Law Society of Ontario for the 2024-2025 term. With several years of experience at Convocation, he is eminently qualified and will serve the position well.
FOLA thanks outgoing Treasurer Jacqueline Horvat for her exemplary two-term service as Treasurer from 2022-2024. She presided over a return to good governance, helping secure a sustainable future for Ontario’s county and district law library system and taking steps toward bringing lawyers and paralegals to under-served communities.
“Peter C. Wardle takes over at a time when electoral reform at Convocation is front and centre. He will be a good custodian for the public and the profession, and FOLA looks forward to working with him and the LSO benchers to maintain confidence in the legal profession,” said Douglas W. Judson, Chair of the Federation of Ontario Law Associations. “We also thank Treasurer Jacqueline Horvat for her exemplary service to the profession and FOLA. Her steady hand and ready embrace of innovation facilitated the implementation of efforts at the Law Society of Ontario to bring access to justice to rural communities, to address the greying of the bar, and position the profession for AI.”
FOLA is a non-profit organization that represents Ontario’s 46 county and district law associations, and about 12,000 lawyers. Most of FOLA’s members are sole practitioners or work in small firms across the province.
