Welcome to the 2024 FOLA Spring Plenary!

This Spring Plenary we focus on three issues facing lawyers today: women in the law, including the question of whether a me-too moment is overdue in our profession, and a human interest story about Afghanistan judges who were forced to flee the country and landed on our shores; legal technology and the growing influence of artificial intelligence; and access to justice issues arising from changes in our communities, including migration from rural to urban centres, paralegals as licensees, and the rise of self-represented litigants in our courts. We also welcome important updates from our regulator, malpractice insurer, and stakeholders that keep FOLA and the justice system humming.

Keynote Speaker

We are very pleased to announce that our keynote speaker for this event will be The Honourable David Lametti, K.C., P.C. Mr. Lametti is counsel at the Montreal office of Fasken Martin DuMoulin LLP. He has over 25 years of experience in law and politics as a professor, Parliamentary Secretary, Member of Parliament, and Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada.
